The tube may be hand washed in warm, soapy water. It can be sterilized by ETO, electron beam, or low level gamma. Do not steam sterilize or boil the tube.
Tubing is a delicate medical procedure and should be taught to you by a qualified individual with lots of experience. The smallest mistake can prove fatal for wildlife, so please employ patience and go very slowly.
While we do not publish a guide on how to tube feed, we do have a few guidelines in order to use our product with success.
Lubricate the tube with a thin film of coconut or olive oil. Wipe off any excess. If you can see anything on the tube, it's too much and needs to be wiped off.
All formula must be filtered through an ~80 micron filter. A disposable paper coffee filter is the perfect size to filter the formula to ensure it does not clog your tube.
Draw the formula directly into the syringe and then attach the tubing.
Pinkies under 20g should be using extremely dilute formula (5:1 ratio or similar). Full strength formula will not pass through our 1.8fr tube.
